Becoming A Disability Confident Employer

If you are an employer, it’s vital not to exclude the 7 million people in the UK who are disabled or have a health condition. They make up 17.5% of all people of working age and ignoring their skills, experiences and potential isn’t good for business.

Set up by the government, The Disability Confident scheme helps employers make the most of the opportunities provided by employing disabled people. The voluntary programme has been created by a team of employers and representatives of disabled organisations.

Becoming a Disability Confident employer not only helps you to hire and retain disabled people, but also supports positive changes in attitudes, behaviours and cultures in your networks, supply chains, and wider society.

Part of the scheme addresses making adjustments for a physically impaired employee including ‘agreeing an emergency evacuation procedure with them if they require assistance’. When putting together your emergency evacuation plans, get in touch to find out how we can help. We offer a complete service including: site survey, product demonstration, short and long term hire, full staff training and preventative and reactive maintenance.

The Disability Confident scheme has 3 levels and is free to join. Find out more here.
